Welcome to the Street Corner Brewery!

SCB is my (Nate Warnke's) home brewery website. Please enjoy. If you wish to contact me, email me here.

The Street Corner Brewery Name

The street corner brewery got its name due to the activity that used to occur outside my house. My fiancé and I own a house on the corner of two streets that used to be frequented by prostitutes. Sometimes our nightly entertainment was sitting on the front porch with a couple of beers and some friends, watching the activity. I once saw one “lady of the night” turn 3 tricks in under a 2 hour time span. (Good production efficiency!) So, after I started home brewing, conversations would arise to the effect of naming my home brewery after this activity. One of my friends came up with a comical name that played off the phonetics of the name of the TV show Hill Street Blues. He said the name of the brewery should be Ho Street Brews. (Thanks for that one, Greg.) In then end, though, the name Street Corner Brewery came to be and that one stuck. In accordance with this name, I try to name as many of my own brew concoctions after “night walker” activities. You can see them on the brews page. Thanks to the tidy work of the Madison Police Department, the prostitution has slowed tremendously, and I personally haven’t seen one in months. However, it makes for good stories and a good name for a brewery.

About Nate

I have been home brewing since the fall of 2004. My fiancé was the one who originally wanted to try it, so we did. After a coupe of batches, I really took it over and went “balls out.” I switched to all grain less than a year later. In my regular life, I work as a Risk Management Specialist for an insurance company. My fiancé and I are getting married on May 24th, 2007. My fiancé, Tracy, is also the creator of this website. She’s a graphic artist and if you would like to contact her, you may do so here. This current version is a “quick and dirty” place holder until she has the time to make me a truly brew-tastic website.
